Patriotic Rosary Memorial Day 2018

This special rosary, led by Fr. Rich, in which our world, our country, every state and every individual is prayed for; will be on Monday, May 28 after the 5:30 p.m. Mass (around 6:00 p.m.) in the Church.  Those who have attended this rosary, in our parish, in the past, reflected on how meaningful and wonderful it was.  Our country sure needs prayers and this is one beautiful way in which to offer up those prayers.  All are welcome!

Parish Golf Tournament 2018

Mark your calendars for Friday, June 1, 2018.  This is the day Sacred Heart will hold the annual "Swinging 'fore' the Lord" parish golf tournament at Meadow Lake Golf course in Colby.  Jeannie has already mailed out registration forms and donation letters.  If you have not received a registration form in the past, but would like to or if you would like to donate a raffle prize, lease contact Jeannie Solko at the Parish Office (462-2179)

Jeannie Solko is organizing workers to assist with the Parish Golf Tournament.  If you couldspare either the morning or afternoon of Friday, June 1, please let Jeannie know at the Parish Office.  We need people to take money of bets (if placed) at various holes as well as people at the hole itself to judge the shot to see if it may have met the requirements to win a prize.  None of these jobs are difficult and you do not have to be a golf pro!  We just need people who want to have a good time, help the parish and can stand to be in the outside heat for a few hours.  Your help is needed and would be very much appreciated!!!

Auction Committee Members Needed 2018

The Auction Committee will begin meeting in June at noon in the Parish Office to begin planning for this year’s auction which will be held on Saturday, October 27.  We would love to have more people join the committee.  This is a three year commitment and then you have the option to stay or rotate off.  We have a lot of fun and it is a worthwhile project.  If you are interested, please contact Amanda Juenemann at 785-443-0467.

Registered?

Are You Registered? Are you getting contribution envelopes and parish mailings?  If not, you may not be registered!  Many times, parishioners think that they are registered, but actually, they are not.  This misunderstanding can easily happen.  Please contact the Parish Office at 462-2179 and Brandi can make sure that you are registered!

  • Archbishop Anil Couto of Delhi has asked Catholics to pray and fast on Fridays until next spring’s elections. “We are witnessing a turbulent political atmosphere which poses a threat to the democratic principles enshrined in our constitution and the secular fabric of our nation,” he said.

  • “The peace we are looking for is not the peace of cemeteries, nor that of subjugated slaves,” said the bishop who serves as spokesman for Church-brokered talks between the government and opposition in Nicaragua. Daniel Ortega—the leftist Sandinista leader who overthrew the Somoza regime in 1979, and subsequently led Nicaragua from 1979-1990, and again since 2007—now faces significant student protests against his own repressive regime.

  • At the conclusion of the Pope’s meetings with Chilean bishops last week, the Vatican released a brief letter to Chile’s bishops. Il Sismografo—whose editorial director is a Chilean journalist who once worked for Vatican Radio—has published what purports to be the full text of a May 15 letter from the Pope to Chile’s bishops. In footnote 25, Pope Francis reportedly referred to “serious accusations against some bishops or superiors who are believed to have entrusted these educational institutions to priests suspected of active homosexuality.”
