50th Day of School

November 2 marked the 50th day of the school year. To celebrate, students and teachers dressed up in 1950s fashion, enjoyed a special lunch at the "Pink Ladies diner," and participated in several popular games and dances from the 1950s.

Halloween & All Saints Day

Students and teachers dressed up as saints (or people with patron saints) for Sacred Heart's annual saint parade on October 31. The parade was followed by a great classroom party put on by the parents. On November 1st, our class continued the celebration of All Saints Day by inviting the fourth graders to join us in playing the board games we created based on our saints' lives. We learned a little bit about iconography and colored icons. In the afternoon, we enjoyed several saint-themed snacks and watched movies about St. Francis Xavier and St. Perpetua.

Owl Pellet Dissection

Fifth graders partnered up with their first grade buddies to dissect owl pellets.

Anointing of the Sick

Sacred Heart held its annual Anointing of the Sick service in the gym on October 25. Students from the school were available to support those members of our parish who were anointed. Fourth and fifth grade students stayed after the service to serve refreshments and visit with the anointed parishoners.

Native American Projects

In our social studies unit on Native Americans, fifth graders have been busy working on several projects, including making "clay" pots and creating a piece of our classroom totem pole.
