Please keep the following guidelines in mind when deciding whether or not to send your child to school. This will help to control the spread of infectious diseases at school and allow your child to be available for learning.

Students should remain home for the following reasons:

            • For a temperature greater than 100 degrees. Children should be fever free for 24 hours before returning to school and not taking fever-reducing medication to control symptoms.

            • If diagnosed with a strep infection. Students need to be on an antibiotic for a minimum of 24 hours, fever free, and feeling well before returning to school.

            • If your child has vomited or had persistent diarrhea during the night or in the morning before school.

            • If your child has a heavy, moist productive cough, chest congestion, or discolored nasal drainage.

            • If your child has pinkeye (conjunctivitis). Students need to have completed 24 hours of medication, and have no visible redness or discharge before returning to school.

Students should be kept home until they have been symptom free for 24 hours. This is important for your child’s health and the health of his/her classmates. Please continue to remind your child of the importance of frequent hand washing, healthy eating, and proper use and disposal of tissues during this cold and flu season.

When notifying the school of your child’s absence, please give us the reason for the absence. Efforts will be made to alert classmates’ parents of physician confirmed illnesses such as strep throat, pink eye, influenza A, or influenza B to help control the spread of infection.

Please refer to the parent handbook for more information.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter concerning the health of our students.

Home and School is our parent organization. They meet every 2nd Monday at 6:30 p.m. at the school. Everyone is welcome to attend.

Sacred Heart School will follow the Colby Public School’s procedures during inclement weather.

When picking up your student at the end of the day please park on the street or use the east gate to enter and leave the playground. It is a safety factor when our students are on the playground and vehicles are driving through.

Remind 101 allows us to send out quick text alerts for school changes, cancellations, and other events. To sign up for these alerts please click on the file that says Text Alerts under School Files on the right side of the School page. You can also get emails if you prefer, or better yet, both texts and emails. If you have any questions please call us or stop by and we will walk you through the process.

Kindergarten through 5th grade will begin at 7:55. Tardy bell is 8:00. Students will be dismissed at 3:30 p.m.

Three year old preschool will be on Tuesday and Thursdays from 8:00-11:00 or 12:30-3:30

Four year old prekindergarten will be on Monday, Wednesday, and Fridays from 8:00-11:00 or 12:30-3:30.

After a recent update to PowerSchool there are mobile apps available on the iphone for parents and for students.

Please be aware that if you have a kindergarten or fifth grade student they will need to have some of their immunizations updated. Please contact your health care provider for specifics.

Just a courtesy note that we have had quite a few people going around the school bus, in the mornings, when the stop sign is extended.  This is dangerous to the students and illegal.  The fine is approximately $250.00 for doing so.  I know mornings can get quite rushed but would just ask you to slow down and not go around school buses.  Thank you for your cooperation.
